Many thanks to The Squamish Lions Club for their generous donation of the Remembrance Day "Beef Dip" (including their time and ingredients). This has become an annual event.

ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRESENTS AWARDS

The Royal Canadian Legion, Squamish Branch 277, has recently handed out $1,535.00 in prize money to the winners of the annual REMEMBRANCE DAY poster, poem and essay contest. There were twelve first place winners of $50.00 each, ten second place winners of $40.00 each, and eight winners took third place ranking earning $30.00 each. Sixty students won ‘honourable mention’ and received a prize of $5.00 each. To all students, a big thank you for participating in the annual contest and congratulations to the winners for a job well done.

The Legion recognizes the effort put forth by teachers to present the background data to the reasons Canadians recognize the importance of REMEMBRANCE DAY and what it means to the sanctity of the rights and freedoms of all Canadians. Clearly, the messages in the students’ poems, essays, and posters reflected the theme that WAR is devastating and that PEACE is the way to enjoy the freedoms we in Canada take for granted.

Who is the real Captain Bones?

Answer: Both

Dr. Fred Roberts (Wendy Shire's dad!) visited our Legion during the Honours and Awards Ceremony... Yes he can still fit into the suit! This is the former dress uniform he wore in the Army Medical Corps which he donated to our branch to help welcome our guests.
